Column Mailbox – A brick mailbox offers many advantages over the standard metal box on a pole. It is also durable and adds a distinctive design element to your landscape. A brick mailbox can be a simple column with a mailbox, or it can be incorporated into the brick wall entrance of your house entrance. With a little ingenuity, build a brick mailbox for a custom project. Buy enough concrete mix to pour a foundation slab for your design mailbox.

For a column mailbox style brick mailbox, approximately four bags of concrete mix will suffice. Read the instructions on the bag to determine how many square feet a bag of concrete mix covers. Prepare a base for your brick mailbox by measuring a square in the place where you are going to build it. Nail a stake in the ground at each corner and tie ropes to the stakes to mark off the plaza. Use a builder’s square for the precise corners.
